Monty Halls: TV Presenter & Inspirational Speaker

'Monty Halls' Great Irish Escape' begins Thurs 11th August on BBC2 at 8pm

Monty Halls is a writer, explorer, television presenter and public speaker. Monty has many anecdotes to draw upon when he tailors his talks for corporate clients. Monty gives an entertaining rollercoaster of a presentation with powerful messages.

A former Royal Marines officer who worked for Nelson Mandela on the peace process in South Africa, Monty left the services in 1996 to pursue a career in leading expeditions. Having achieved a First Class Honours degree in marine biology, over the next decade he circumnavigated the globe four times on various projects, leading multi-national teams in some of the most demanding environments on earth. Notable expeditions included an anti-poaching project in northern Malawi, the discovery of a sunken city off the coast of Tamil Nadu in India. In 2002 he was awarded the Bish Medal by the Scientific Exploration Society for his services to exploration.

His television career began when he won Channel Four's Superhuman competition in 2004. Since then he has presented series and documentaries for the Discovery Channel, The National Geographic Channel, BBC1, BBC2, Channel 4 and the History Channel. His latest projects include 'Monty Halls' Great Escape' (2009) filmed on the west coast of Scotland; 'Monty Halls' Great Hebridean Escape (2010) about life as a nature ranger in the Outer Hebrides, and 'Monty Halls' Great Irish Escape' (2011) based in Connemara.

Monty continues to run expeditions and diving trips when he has the time between speaking engagements and filming projects. He has written six books, mainly on diving and the marine environment. His hobbies include playing the guitar and playing rugby - both, he confesses, to a mind-bogglingly low standard. At Rugby, Monty has two shot knees, no pace and doesn't like tackling and yet remains resolutely optimistic concerning his call up to the national squad.

Motivational Speaker - A dynamic, experienced and popular speaker, Monty addresses topics such as effective leadership, teamwork in tough times, co-operation, managing risk and how to maintain the aim in a changing environment. He has some powerful messages about staying motivated in tough times.

Monty Halls gives inspirational motivational talks, extremely funny after dinner speeches, memorable keynotes and intelligent, entertaining links as a host. Monty uses dramatic photographs and excellent film footage to engage a broad range of audiences. The man who has been called 'the new Cousteau' and 'a cross between Indiana Jones and a male model' excels at entertaining his audience.
